Manufacturing Engineer

About this role

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Limerick, Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes and systems, with the aim of increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving product quality. The role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and design, to ensure successful project execution.

Key responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and systems, including process flow, workstations, and equipment.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Manage part/BOM creation and maintenance – will need experience with ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of projects, including production, quality, and design teams.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) projects, providing input on manufacturing feasibility and ensuring successful transfer to production.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve any manufacturing issues and improve product quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing process optimisation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing process problems through testing, evaluation, and analysis.
  • Engage with appropriate personnel in the identification and resolution of Corrective/Preventative actions to address Safety, Quality, Technical, and Manufacturing Issues.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers as required.
  • Occasional travel to support SCS goals and objectives may also be required.
Essential experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (MedTech and/or Aerospace preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and systems, including process flow, workstations, and equipment.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks or CREO.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for improving manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Experience in the medical device industry is a plus.
