Senior Manufacturing Engineer

About this role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Limerick, Ireland. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, ensuring they are efficient, effective and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards. You will work closely with other engineers, managers, and cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that optimise production processes.

Key responsibilities
  • Evaluate, create, and improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Optimise quality, performance, and cost productivity through development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of current manufacturing processes. These include equipment, documentation, training, gauges and tooling/fixtures.
  • Support and optimise new and existing manufacturing processes, including researching new technology and making recommendations for implementation.
  • Interface regularly with management and manufacturing engineers to assure clear and concise communication in a leadership role.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing process problems through testing, evaluation, and analysis.
  • Lead the design for manufacturability process, prepare process FMEAs and root cause analyses, plan facility, equipment, and resource changes and initial product builds. Ensure Manufacturing deliverables to Development Project Plans are completed and on time.
  • Plan, specify, select, validate, and implement new equipment, processes and facilities in Manufacturing.
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate design and installation of high-volume Manufacturing equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Engage with the appropriate personnel in the identification and resolution of Corrective/Preventative actions to address Safety, Quality, Technical, and Manufacturing issues.
  • Control pilot projects (document issues, materials, etc.)
  • Assist with the recruitment of engineers to ensure skills and capability meet the requirements of the company.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers are needed.
  • Occasional travel required to support SCS goals and objectives.
Essential experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. MedTech and/or Aerospace preferred.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on process development and optimisation.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, welding, and automation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail, and ability to deliver projects on time and in budget.
  • Experience with ERP systems to manage part/BOM creation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks or CREO.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Irish manufacturing regulations and standards is preferred.
